Upper Mustang Trek, the Last Forbidden Kingdom in Nepal. Upper Mustang allows you to explore a rare lifestyle, vibrant culture, deep canyons and rugged mountains mysterious world of the old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang, also called Lo. Once forbidden and isolated from the rest of the world for decades, the area was able to evolve with its own distinctive culture and rich traditions closely tied with Tibet. The trek to Yara and Ghara is more like off beaten trek of Tibetan culture of Upper Mustang. Lo Manthang, the capital of former kingdom of Lo which existed during the 15th century situated on a plateau at the altitude of 3800 meters above sea level, also lies in this region.
Upper Mustang Trek is a journey into the ancient kingdom of Mustang rich in history, Tibetan culture and stunning landscape. The trek begins with a flight to Jomsom then trek to Kagbeni. Upper mustang is a trek in the Mustang region which lies in the rain shadow of Mt. Annapurna and Dhaulagiri earning it the epithet the cold desert of Nepal.
