The Annapurna Region is proving to be a popular tourist destination that provides a mecca of magnificent snow-capped mountains, sweeping glaciers, natural forests including rhododendron forests with untamed white, a flora and fauna natural paradise with a wide diversity of people from various ethnic groups. In this region, view the world’s highest lake Tilicho, the world’s deepest George Kaligandaki valleyand the Dhawalagiri Ice-flow. Experience sunrise at Poon Hill and the natural hot springs at Tatopani. Explore beautiful ModiKhola Valley, Manang and Mustang Valley, while discovering ancient trade routes, the pilgrimage village of Muktinath and ancient Buddhist monasteries. Many trekkers enjoy the surrounding area of Pokhara because of its low chance for any altitude related problems. Similar to Khumbu area of Mt. Everest there are many popular trekking routes in the Annapurna Himal. There is the circular course visiting Ghorepani, and others like the Annapurna circuit via the highest Tilicho Lake , Annapurna Sanctuary, or the famous ABC Trek ( Annapurna Base Camp Trek). Other famous treks include the Jomsom, and the Muktinath Trek. In the Annapurna region to the north is Mustang and north east is Nar-Phu Valley, but because treks to Mustang and Nar-Phu Valley are subject to special restrictions, this destination is described on a separate page about treks in restricted areas.

We travelled with Nepal Aventure for 19 days in December 2018, 2 adults and our 2 children 11 & 13 yrs. Our trip was easy to arrange with Himlal ever accommodation of our requests and changes. We trekked in the Annapurna region for 10 days and Himlal was a fantastic guide throughout and extremely helpful and thoughtful particularly with the children. The trekking was incredible including a pre-dawn start to see the sunrise on Mardi Himal at 4500m. Himlal arranged a 3 day safari at Chitwan NP which was also fantastic, we saw wild rhino, crocodiles, many deer, monkeys, birds galore and the kids loved the elephant bath. An unexpected highlight was a 1 night trip to the World Heritage listed city of Bhaktapur, where Himlal had arranged a guesthouse within the city walls overlooking the main square.
I can recommend the services of Nepal Aventure and Himlal without reservation, and look forward to more adventures with Himlal in future years, perhaps to Upper Mustang or Langtang next time.
